Ebor Automotive Systems’ new Engel 1700T moulding machine is now commissioned and in operation! Following an extremely compressed tool adaptation program necessitated by customer parts requirements, Wheel Arch Liners for the VW Vivo are now being delivered to the VWSA plant in Uitenhage. Although work to complete the building extension and fully implement the production cell continues around us, 3 shift operation on this machine is already in place to replenish depleted stock levels and prepare for the arrival of additional product tools in early May.
Achieving this milestone would not have been possible without the tremendous support of our equipment and service provider partners. “Just-in-Time” delivery has been the order of the day, even when that timing has been significantly less than would normally have been the case.
Technicians from Demag (Crane) and Greentech Machines (Engel Agent) worked long days & nights, and through public holidays, to ensure that their equipment would be ready. Many other local companies such as Sampson Rigging, JR Moldes, Injection Techniques have played key roles. Special thanks must go to the ever-patient building team of Strydom Basson & Tait, led by Jappie Strydom, who have cheerfully coped with constant disruption to the building schedule, and “made a plan” whenever it was needed.
